Nanny Retreat FAQs
Q: Why is it called “The Fairy Tale” Nanny Retreat?
A: When we first visited the Inn to make reservations for the event, our first thought was “Cinderella!” And so the theme was born. We are having an evening costume party around this theme on Saturday night, so please BE CREATIVE!! We can’t wait to see the costumes! If you need the name and number of a local costume-maker (who is also a nanny), please contact PMN for this info. She does amazing work!
Q: What does the Retreat fee cover?
A: The fee is all-inclusive.
Q: Who will attend the Nanny Retreat?
A: In 2007, Perfect Match Nannies hosted a Nanny Day Out. In attendance were nannies from Madison, Milwaukee, and everywhere in between. The Retreat is a GREAT way to get to know many other local in-home childcare providers in such an isolating career! Many of 2007's attendees are still in close contact and we've already heard that some intend to register for the Retreat. We have centrally-located the event in Oconomowoc this year so that both Madison and Milwaukee nannies will have an easy commute to the Retreat.
Q: Why are there only two educational sessions this year?
A: We took the comments on 2007's Nanny Day Out evaluations seriously to improve in 2008. Nannies clearly wanted more networking time. So this year we are choosing to do two in-depth sessions (4+ hours), rather than many shorter sessions. We know that our attendees will love the extra networking/relaxation time while still learning an immense amount.
Q: Can I bring a significant other/children with me to stay at The Inn during the Retreat?
A: Sorry, no.
Q: What type of clothes should I wear and bring with me?
A: Since this is a Retreat and NOT an actual conference, we are loosening up on the dress code for the weekend and hoping that you will wear something that you are comfortable in and can relax in. The Inn has a heated outdoor pool, so don't forget your swimsuits and towels!
Q: Do I have to have a roommate while staying at The Inn?
A: If at all possible, yes. Space is limited, and to ensure that as many can spend the night as possible, having a roommate will be a requirement unless there is an extenuating circumstance.
Q: Can I hand-pick a roommate for the event?
A: YES! In fact, we encourage this. Please ensure that you both register and pay your fees ASAP! You can tell the Innkeeper your roommate's name when phoning in your reservation and they will put you together, if possible.
Q: What happens if I register and pay for the Retreat, but then end up not being able to attend?
A: Sorry, no full refunds will be given for any reason.
Q: Is there a discount if I only wish to attend one of the days or not stay overnight?
A: Sorry, no. The budget has been set to provide you with a great event.
Q: What happens if when I call the Inn it's already full and I can't spend the night?
A: Sadly, this could happen, as our event attendance capacity is slightly above the event overnight capacity. We would try to look for creative ways to ensure you could spend the night, but if that's not possible, we will provide you with a $25 refund. We know that you will still enjoy the entire retreat and both days of educational sessions, regardless of overnight arrangements.
Q: I have special dietary needs. Will they be accommodated?
A: We are providing vegetarian meal options and healthy diet choices. You will need to plan ahead for any other personal dietary needs.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Sorry, no.
Q: How important is it to arrive between 10:15am and 10:50am on Saturday, September 13th?
A: Very important! We will begin the sessions promptly at 11am.
